Reverence For Health
Preface
This book consists of several sections. The first comprises a bunch of essays on diverse health subjects such as Diet, Relaxation and Physical Fitness. The approach is from Nature Cure angle.
A minority movement though Nature Cure is, it is making its presence felt all over the world. This is but ‘natural’ since the seekers after easy ways to health by drugs or surgery usually do not take long to be disillusioned with the orthodox medical system, whereafter they begin to run from doctors instead of running for them.
In modern times, when so much is said about ecology, Nature Cure is the only scientific discipline that studies the human system as a composite whole from the viewpoint of Internal Ecology. When so much is said about Environmental Pollution, Nature Cure appeals for a study of Internal Systemic Pollution, the pollution of our digestive system and our blood stream - and even mental pollution. Nothing is beyond the ken of Nature Cure so far as human health is concerned.
The title of the book is not misnomeric because, after all, maintenance and restoration of health is a science. Health needs to be every individual’s concern; our health is our own responsibility. The sooner we realise this, the better for all of us. Most of us are seekers of short-cuts and shirkers of responsibility. But, when the responsibility for our health and disease is laid at the door of medical men, it mostly proves infructuous and sometimes disastrous. If we won’t find time for health, we shall have to find time for illness. Investment of time, energy and money in health pays highest dividends. It is best not to lose health in pursuit of wealth, for, health is the first wealth.
